Good morning. Day two of our journey allowed us our second day of practice at
the park location we will skate
on Saturday. We now have completed two days of practice there.
We visited a park in
San Diego and then we treated to a BBQ on the beach at the private ROTC
navy/army high school acadamy.
In the evening we did a bonding activity at boomers in Vista Ca.
That's the highlites for Thursday.

Nancy, Steve and Dorothy we are in San Diego and have began the Journey to
prepare for the games.
We had our first practice at the event site yesterday and the kids are excited
and preparing to skate.
This site is a huge wood outdoor facility the home of Shawn White's olympic
champion skate bourders park. Not that we have seen him but a great boost for
the kids to know it is where he got his start and that his olympic joyrney
statrted here.
This is the Wednesday report.
Pass on to all that may be interested.
Marina Chamber Skate Team Send Off
Thank You For Your Generous Support!
Because of the tremendous support by local businesses and the community we have
raised the funds necessary for the Team to compete at the California State
Championships in San Diego!
To celebrate this momentous event,
the
Marina Chamber is sponsoring a Marina Skate Team Send Off
on Tuesday, July 6th, 2010 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Marina Skate Park and
Teen Center Complex.
Our local skate team aged 7-15 earned the right to participate in the State of
California Championship competition, which will be held at the YMCA Skate Park
in Encinada. Winners from this competition qualify to participate in the United
States
Championship,
which then qualifies them to compete in the
Junior Olympics!
This would not be possible without YOUR support, the diligent work of City of
Marina Recreation and Cultural Services Director Terry Siegrist, and Kelly
Sorenson owner of On
The Beach
Surf Shop.
Join us from
6:00PM
to 7:30PM
at the Marina Skate Park and Teen Center Complex where you can
meet the Skate Team, watch a demonstration and wish them good luck! Light
refreshments will be served.

The City
of Marina/On the Beach Skate Team is seeking funds
to travel to
the 2010
California State Games. This
is a dedicated group of kids, working with the Marina City Recreation and
Cultural Services Department and
On The Beach Surf Shop in Monterey. Currently
the team is ranked first in the Nor-Cal California Amateur Skate Team League.
The seven youth
in the 13 – 15 age group are
ranked 1 – 7 in the Nor-Cal League and the youth
in the 12 and under age group are
ranked 2 – 4 (see www.caslusf.com).
All team members are now qualified at the State
level to compete at the California State Games.
The team will compete in
San Diego from July 8 – 11, 2010, and they need to raise $5,000 to get there.
All funds raised will go to registration, transportation, lodging and meals. A
corporate logo on shirts is possible depending on timing. Individual elements
can also be sponsored. An example would be transportation (rented van) for
$1,000.
To help the Marina /On
The Beach Skate Team reach
their goal, The Marina Foundation has established a dedicated fund to accept
donations for them. This will allow all donations, both personal and business,
to be tax deductable. Donations can be made online or by mail to the
address below. Since time is of the essence, we ask that donations be
received by July 6th.
We encourage the entire community to
support the Marina /On
the Beach Skate Team as they represent kids
throughout Marina at the State Championships.
