Marina Community Non-Profit Summit:

“Common Threads and Synergies” is the topic of the second Marina Non-Profit Summit, hosted by The Marina Foundation on February 29th, 2012 from 5-7p.m. at the Marina Library Community Room. The purpose of the workshop is to review the programs and projects currently in place by the Foundation and local non-profits, and to seek input on the types of programs and activities the community would like to see implemented now and in the future. All Marina non-profit organizations are encouraged to send a representative to this summit.


The Marina Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration: Friday December 2nd, 2011, 6 - 7:30 p.m. - Vince DiMaggio Park

The ceremony is an annual family evening of caroling around Marina’s living Christmas Tree, with musical entertainment, fresh cookies, hot apple cider, and a special appearance from Santa!


Dedication of the CAPT Gordon R. Nakagawa, USN (Retired) Memorial Pilot Lounge - Friday, September 16th, 2011, 3:00 p.m.  Please join The Marina Foundation for the City Of Marina dedication of the CAPT Gordon R. Nakagawa, USN (Retired) Memorial Pilot Lounge at the Marina Municipal Airport (Formerly Fritzche Army Airfield). See attached flier.


Postponed until 2012: The First Annual Marina Foundation Grill-Off Fundraiser - Saturday, September 10, 2011 (9-10-11) At the American Legion Parking Lot (694 Legion Way, Marina); Hours: Gates Open at 11 am, Food Served at 12:00 Noon; Judges to Vote on: Best Burger, Best Decorations - Bunting/Costumes/…; Best NameA $5 wristband gets you unlimited samples  AND 1 vote for best burger (crowd favorite)! Join all your friends and neighbors to choose the best burger in Town to support Marina’s local programs! There will be celebrity demonstrations and other activities to get you ready to vote for Your favorite burger! All proceeds to benefit local Marina programs.

Marina Skate Team - As the Junior Olympic Gold Medal State Champions and the California State Champions for the 2010 California Amateur Skate League National Skate Federation State Championships, the City of Marina/On The Beach/Drawn Skate Team has now won gold at the National Championships that were held August 6, 2011 in San Diego.  See Skate Team for more.


Marina International Festival of the Winds - The celebration of the wind continues for its 12th year over Mother’s Day Weekend, May 7 and 8, 2011, with free admission and lots of wind-related activities and fun for the whole family. Livermore Scholarship Application Deadline for the Don Livermore Scholarship for Marina High School is April 30th.  The application packet (including the transcripts, letter of recommendation, and essay) must be submitted to the Counseling Office at Marina High School no later than April 30, 2011 to allow us enough time to make our decisions and notify the recipients prior to graduation.  See Scholarships for more.
