AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers.
The following programs have special events to raise funds at specific times of the year. They are:
Don Livermore Scholarship For Marina High School - Special Event on September 22, 2018. Stay tuned for details.
Captain Gordon R. Nakagawa Scholarship For Marina High School - The Marina Foundation is partnering with Wreaths Across America so that donations can be made for a Christmas wreath to go to either to our new California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery or Arlington National Cemetery or so that one can purchase a wreath and donate one (called a Patriot Pair). Order by November 26, 2018.
Jack Stewart College Scholarship - Golf Tournament on Presidents’ Day on February 18, 2019.
Marina Man and Woman of the Year Award - This is the annual fundraiser for The Marina Foundation. Marina citizens are awarded for their contributions to the City over time. Held in early spring.
The following programs do not have specific fundraising events and rely on grants and donations from the community:
The Marina Foundation Veterans Fund – Supports financially the needs of Marina and regional organizations that focus on improving the lives of Veterans and active duty military.
Veterans Transition Center – Funds raised have helped to procure their new flag pole, 2 brass plaques for the entrances at the hall, and assistance with the Food Pantry.
The Breakfast Program at the Marina Teen Center – Serves breakfast to approximately 165 to 225 Marina middle school and high school students each morning between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. during the school year, excluding breaks and holidays.
The Marina After School Nutrition Programs at the Marina Teen and Marina Community Centers – Serves healthy snacks after school and during breaks and holidays at both centers.
The Marina Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration – Annual event on the first Friday in December at Vince DiMaggio Park. This free family event will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018.
Marina Historical Committee – Collects, stores and archives the history of Marina for possible future display.
Marina School Programs – The Foundation has put aside funds to be granted on an “as needed” basis to our local Marina schools.
The Marina Community Non-Profit Summit - hosted by The Marina Foundation, it was created to provide a venue for local non-profits to get together to review and discuss programs and projects that are currently in place, and to seek input on the types of programs and activities the community would like to see implemented now and into the future. This networking opportunity is held annually. All Marina non-profit organizations are encouraged to send a representative to this free community event.
